The Water Lantern Festival

Last summer Chris, Griffin and I had the immense pleasure of attending the Water Lantern Festival. It was hands down one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.

We attended the Water Lantern Festival in DC at the National Harbor. The venue was absolutely packed with people! We were glad we arrived early enough to grab a spot to sit and decorate our lantern. When we arrived, we got a little backpack and our lantern kit that we set up and decorated ourselves.

I dedicated mine to my grandfather who passed away. Before he passed, he passed on his love for all things England, including Harry Potter. After we decorated our lantern we had a chance to eat. I was excited to see so many food trucks parked all around the venue. We had a ton of choices, which was a good thing, especially with a picky toddler.

There was live entertainment that we got to enjoy while we ate. This was probably G’s favorite part because he got to get up out of the baby carrier and dance his little tush off.

When the sun got low enough, there was an announcement for people to start making their way to the waterfront to release their lanterns. This was the most breathtaking thing I’ve ever seen. It was so calm and peaceful down at the waterfront, truly a moment of remembrance.

This is why I’m SO EXCITED to team up with the Water Lantern Festival this year and give my followers a chance to score two tickets (date night anyone) to the Water Lantern Festival of their choice!
